Women and Gender Equality Minister Maryam Monsef

Afghanistan crisis: Canadian minister says calling the Taliban “brothers” was a “cultural reference” – YouTube

To Begin With She Calls Taliban brothers

Specifically the Minister of Women and Gender Equality with the Liberal Party of Canada, in a video conference, refers to the Taliban as “our brothers the Taliban”. Also as a Minister of Canada and especially the one for Women and Gender Equality, it is inappropriate to refer to the Taliban as our brothers considering they abuse women and kill those whose sexual and gender orientation doesn’t match their concepts.

To continue when a Minister of the Canadian Government speaks they represent this country not personal views. So every Minister needs to understand that what they say is received by others as Canada speaking.

In conclusion, in a weak explanation from both the Minister and Prime Minister, the Liberal Party provides yet another reason why this Liberal Government needs to be replaced. Finally as I have said before in ridings that are currently and likely to remain Liberal vote for anyone other than the Liberals so that these people aren’t allowed to do any more damage to this country.

Further comments from Global News from the YouTube.

“Canadian Women and Gender Equality Minister Maryam Monsef clarified her comments on Wednesday when she called the Taliban, a group Canada recognizes as a terrorist organization, “our brothers.” Monsef reiterated the Canada condemns their actions in Afghanistan and that she meant it as a “cultural” reference. Conservative Party Leader Erin O’Toole and Liberal Party Leader Justin Trudeau reacted to the incident while on the campaign trail. O’Toole called it “completely unacceptable” and added Canada needs a prime minister who will act in the national interest “at home and abroad.” Trudeau said Monsef “expressed her views” and that the Canadian government will continue to recognize the Taliban as a terrorist organization.”
