Emergency Measures Act

National emergency

3 For the purposes of this Act, a national emergency is an urgent and critical situation of a temporary nature that

(a) seriously endangers the lives, health or safety of Canadians and is of such proportions or nature as to exceed the capacity or authority of a province to deal with it, or

(b) seriously threatens the ability of the Government of Canada to preserve the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Canada

and that cannot be effectively dealt with under any other law of Canada.

Emergencies Act (justice.gc.ca)

Really there are no other laws that would allow for the removal of a group of protestors from Ottawa?

What exactly have these protestors done that can be considered endangering the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Canada?

Folks the last time anyone used a similar law was this very man’s father during the FLQ crisis in 1970. Is there something in the Trudeau blood that motivates them to such dire and drastic measures?

FLQ Crisis and the War Measures Act

During the FLQ crisis a group in Quebec killed a Quebec Minister of the Province, they set off bombs in mailboxes and in fact showed they would use violent actions to overthrow the government of the time in Quebec to become independent. This was an insurrection.

The October Crisis refers to a chain of events that took place in Quebec in the fall of 1970. The crisis was the culmination of a long series of terrorist attacks perpetrated by the Front de libération du Québec (FLQ), a militant Quebec independence movement, between 1963 and 1970. On 5 October 1970, the FLQ kidnapped British trade commissioner James Cross in Montreal. Within the next two weeks, FLQ members also kidnapped and killed Quebec Minister of Immigration and Minister of Labour Pierre Laporte. Quebec premier Robert Bourassa and Montreal mayor Jean Drapeau called for federal help to deal with the crisis. In response, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau deployed the Armed Forces and invoked the War Measures Act — the only time it has been applied during peacetime in Canadian history.

Freedom Convoy

The Freedom Convoy protests including Ottawa while disruptive, annoying to many, somewhat damaging to the economy are far from similar to what happened in Quebec in 1970. Do these people look and sound like the FLQ?

No Mr. Trudeau this is not an insurrection and you have overstepped your position in this country by your actions. You will wear this forever if even one of these protestors is injured as a result of your paranoia.

Is this truly what Canadians want?

For those that support this action by the Liberal Government understand this:

  1. by submitting to such drastic actions by Trudeau you are opening the door to total authoritarian control of your lives as this action applies not just to the truckers but anyone Mr. Trudeau deems a threat for any reason anywhere in Canada;
  2. Pay attention to the bigger picture. Our Prime Minister is the darling member of the World Economic Forum along with several of his Ministers and advisors. The World Economic Forum’s goal is “Global governance”. Do you want Canadians to answer to some entity in Switzerland for everything we do?

Global governance is a means to manage issues that cut across national borders – whether it is a pandemic, a financial crisis, climate change, or a geo-economic dispute. Though traditionally centred on diplomacy and international organizations, a wide variety of public and private actors now engage in cross-border governance. The work itself has expanded well beyond treaty-making to include formal and informal monitoring, standard-setting, enforcement, and financing. Effective governance is essential to secure peaceful, healthy, and prosperous societies, particularly now amid COVID-19, worsening ecological crises, mounting geopolitical tension, and growing nationalist backlash against globalization.

Conclusion

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH with this Prime Minister and his authoritarian minions. Canadians need to take a stand and say no more.

With that said I think it would be wise for everyone to lower the temperature and find a peaceful way to have the Freedom Convoy leave Ottawa. No more doubling down to prove one’s mettle. If our Prime Minister himself is not willing to negotiate an end with the Convoy then have his deputy Prime Minister do it. She was able to negotiate with the USA and Mexico surely she could negotiate with a number of frustrated Canadian citizens.
