Are Ontario ICUs Overflowing
To listen to Mainstream Media, the government and posters on social media we in Ontario are facing a disaster when it comes to the ICUs in this Province as a result of Covid-19 cases and as I see from time to time posted “the unvaccinated”.
Well I’m here to tell you that all the rhetoric is unfounded. In actual fact, I post the numbers directly from the Ontario Government website every day and that is not the case.
From my website https://lisaparentcovid-19.ca the numbers are available every day.

The numbers are sourced from two different parts of the Ontario government website. One can cross reference the numbers at Hospitalizations | COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Ontario and COVID-19 Vaccine Data in Ontario – Datasets – Ontario Data Catalogue .
As one can see today February 3, 2022 there are still 523 ICU beds available in Ontario out of a total of 2.343 beds up 16 from yesterday. Also one can see that of the 533 beds designated as covid ICU beds only 179 have been attributed to “the unvaccinated”. The rest are either partially vaccinated or fully vaccinated with an number of unknown cases.
In actual fact, 1,287 of the used beds are for non-covid related treatment.
Conclusion
Misinformation, disinformation and uninformed commentary are not only misleading but can be downright dangerous at times. Those needing ICU beds have ICU beds with 523 ICU beds still available if needed.
Granted there may be certain hospitals or even regions that from time to time fill up their ICU beds for various reasons including Covid-19 but it is not the case for the overall Province.
If there is a problem in the ICU I suggest it is more likely personnel shortage related than it is brick and mortar.
