Deaths
According to the government’s own web page deaths include deaths whether or not COVID-19 was determined to be a contributing or underlying cause of death as indicated in the CCM field “Type of Death”. Below are the government’s own words…
“[7] Deaths are determined by using the outcome field in CCM. Any case marked “Fatal” is included in the deaths data. Deaths are included whether or not COVID-19 was determined to be a contributing or underlying cause of death as indicated in the CCM field “Type of Death”.” How Ontario is responding to COVID-19 | Ontario.ca
Here is the chart from January 8, 2022 showing the numbers reported on the Ontario Government webpage All Ontario: Case numbers and spread | COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Ontario

While one never likes the subject of death it is unfair to the families of persons who died if their cause of death was something other than Covid-19 yet is reported as Covid-19. From the quote above “Deaths are included whether or not COVID-19 was determined to be a contributing or underlying cause of death“. How is this helping everyone cope with the death of a loved one say from suicide, heart failure, stroke, cancer, the annual flu, etc.?
Conclusion
Are we overstating Covid-19 as the cause of death accurately in the Province of Ontario or for that matter in the world? Some feedback I have had from the public indicates that not every death is a direct result of Covid-19 infections. Along with questionable “New Case” reporting each day what is the purpose of reporting deaths other than Covid-19 as Covid-19?
