Above all what are “New Cases”?
To begin the numbers displayed today for Southwestern PHU make it obvious that the number “All Cases” (5) are reported by the Media and for that matter the Public Health Officials as “New Cases”.

Today’s Numbers
Specifically today’s numbers clearly demonstrate what they report as “New Cases” is not really new infections as they purport.
In fact it is nothing more than the day’s change in “All Cases (5)” – the sum of “Active Cases (1)” (the true representation of infections) plus “Resolved Cases (3)” plus “Deaths (1)”.
What Does it Mean?
It is disingenuous for them to use these status changes to imply that today we have “5” New Infections. If that were the case then the Active Cases for today would be “5” yet it is actually only “1”.
Subsequently it is time this practice stops as it is merely designed to continue to scare people. Especially on a Provincial basis.

“We report covid 19 cases and their status (active, resolved or death) according to the date those cases or status changes happened. “
What is a Status?
To summarize in their own words they state that they don’t just report cases associated with a person but also they report the changes in a case’s status as a new case.
- Is the resolution of a case a new case? No it is the resolution of an open case not a new case!
- Is the death of the person associated with the case a new case? No it is the unfortunate end to a person’s active infection!
This Begs a Question
Thus how many decisions have been made over the past 1 1/2 Years affecting everyone’s lives and our economy based on this practice in the Province, the Country and worldwide?
Finally the Real Truth
Finally in Ontario, the country and worldwide this practice has inflated the actual number of real infections. This makes any meaning of the numbers being reported suspect.
In short why are they engaging in this practice?
CONTROL FOLKS CONTROL! And it has worked for 1 1/2 years so far. After all how many of you still believe the change in “all cases” is “new cases”.
