What Constitutes a New Infection?
I have been posting the Ontario Public Health Covid-19 numbers since about September 2020. Consistently during that period Public Health and Mainstream Media continually call the total of the daily change in cases as “New Cases”. Are these numbers actually ‘New Infections’ or are they a misrepresentation of the facts.
An introduction to the Presentation of Cases
Each day I download the raw case data from the Ontario Government website dataset Status of COVID-19 cases in Ontario by Public Health Unit (PHU) – Datasets – Ontario Data Catalogue. Here is a snapshot of what is downloaded each day. You will notice there is nothing included called “New Cases”.
Now let me show you a snapshot of the case information on one of the summary pages Case numbers, spread and deaths | COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Ontario. You will note on this page there is a new column called All and a column called change. The column called change is the daily change in “All Cases”. Again notice no evidence of “New Cases”.
Notice the Active, Resolved and Death numbers in both files on the Ontario Website are the same. No mention of “New Cases”.

Aha! The change in All Cases on 2022-04-26 is 1,827; the exact number the media will report as “New Cases”. From the Public Health website they call the change in All Cases “New Cases” even though it includes the change in Resolved Cases and the change in Deaths. Is the resolution of an old case actually a “New Case”? Is the Death of an old case a “New Case”? According to their methodology it seems they are.

The number of cases since January 15, 2020. This number includes cases that have been changed to “resolved” or “deaths”.

Okay so in their own words Resolved and Deaths are considered by Public Health to be “New Cases”.
The only true measure of infections is “Active Cases” yet that is not the focus of either Public Health or Mainstream Media. Why?
Well you see so long as there are outstanding Active Cases there will always be resolved cases and deaths keeping the fires going for inflating the numbers to keep us in line. The only time their rhetoric will fail is when there are no longer Active Cases (infections) to feed the fire so to speak.
Now to Testing
Prior to January 1 of this year the highest positivity rates were just over 13% in the spring of 2021 and the average positivity rate was below 6% yet since January 1, 2022 the positivity rate has never been below 6%. In fact, one would be hard pressed to find a day when it was below 10%. Today it is above 13% which is low compared to all the days before it on the graph.
Cycle counts are critical to the production of good results and anything above 35 cycles becomes suspect for false positive results. However, it is important to Public Health since the more positive results they get the more cases they can report each day as “New Cases” even if they never result in “New Infections”. The number they should be showing as increases in “Active Cases” each day should be far more than what is reported as “Active Cases” every day. So where did those “New Cases” go?
Well of course if there was no “Active Infection” they would be considered “Resolved”.

Conclusion
We have been duly duped for better than two years on what are the actual infections. This is not just an Ontario problem but is in fact a Canadian and might I say a world-wide issue. We have been locked down, forced to use Vaccine passports, social distance, wear masks, stay at home and businesses have been decimated. Why?
So that they had a vehicle to get the populations vaccinated with the mRNA vaccines. So that they could maintain control over the populations. So that they could justify taking away our rights a little at a time.
Stop going along to get along.
Yes there is a virus. Yes it can be dangerous for some people. No it is not a reason to misrepresent the facts.
A “New Case” is associated with a person and only occurs ONCE when a person is infected. Status changes are not “New Cases” but rather an update on an ‘Old Case’. It is time to hold their feet to the fire and say Enough is Enough! Start telling us the truth.
